Rajkot: Carcass of a lioness was found abandoned by the roadside near Kumbhania railway crossing on Victor Road near Rajula in Amreli district on Sunday.

“Considering that the lioness’ carcass was bloated, we assume that she was killed few days ago somewhere else and carcass dumped here,” said a forest official. “It is yet to be probed whether the lioness had been killed for her nails or was it killed as a result of man-animal conflict,” the forester added.

Earlier, on February 18, carcass of a lioness packed in a synthetic bag used by farmers to carry manure and agriculture produce was found on Meghal riverbed. It was strongly suspected that the lioness was killed and dumped there.
