The Poonawalla Breeders' Multi-Million (PBMM), the richest race for juveniles, has attracted 11 three-year-old horses from every racing center in the country except Kolkata. The Gr 1 race, popularly called the “Juvenile Derby”, will feature as the prime attraction in today's eight-race evening card.
Interestingly, four of the 11 juveniles in the fray are sired by Excellent Art, the reputed stallion standing at the sponsors' own stud farm, whose progeny, Ruffina, had posted a smashing victory in this race last year. They are: Astral Force (Desert Lightning) from Mysore, Corfe Castle (Miss Danehill) from Hyderabad who is the full brother to Ruffina, Salvador Dali (Mystic Quest) and Star Superior (Ramjet), both from Bangalore. However, all of them will have to contend with two talented rivals in Pioneer (Phoenix Tower - Riyasat) and Athenaeus (Kingda Ka - Snow Cannon).
