Probe is not focused on any political party: CM

| | Dehradun | in Dehradun

With Congress dubbing the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigation into the NH – 74 scam as a manifestation of the ruling party’s politics of vendetta, the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said on Saturday that the probe is not focused on any political party, though it must get to the bottom of the scam. Talking to newsmen here on Saturday, he said that it is important that the police reach to every corrupt person  involved in  the scam.

The CM’s statement vis a vis the SIT investigation is meant to take on the Congress charge that it is a politically motivated move to implicate the opposition leaders in it.

The principal opposition party made the charge after the SIT had questioned the former state Congress chief Kishore Upadhyaya.  The political circles are abuzz with speculations that the probe team might question some other senior Congress leaders in the coming days.  The SIT has taken into its probe- ambit the alleged transfer of huge sums of money into the official bank account of the Congress just before the 2017 Assembly elections when the party was in power.

The former state Congress chief is learnt to have been asked questions over how the depositors in the party’s bank account happened to be the beneficiaries of the alleged NH- 74 scam.
