Legal services camps were being organised in various parts of the State to spread awareness on legal services among the workers in the unorganised sector, Telangana State Legal Services Authority Member Secretary B. R. Madhusudhan Rao said.
The camps are intended to assist the poor and needy avail the entitlements meant for them under various government welfare schemes.
He was speaking at a meeting held at Prakasam stadium in the coal town after inaugurating a new model legal services camp on Saturday.
The camp was jointly organised by the TSLSA and the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Khammam.
Principal District and Sessions Judge and DLSA Chairman M Lakshman, Bhadradri-Kothagudem District Collector D. S. Lokesh Kumar, Superintendent of Police Ambar Kishor Jha, DLSA Secretary K. Vinod Kumar and others spoke.
Scores of construction workers and others in unorganised sector enrolled their names under the insurance scheme meant for them at a stall put up by the Labour Department on the occasion.
Various government departments including the Women and Child Welfare Agency highlighted their services and schemes meant for the intended beneficiaries through stalls set up at the legal services camp.
