Haveri: A dog exhibition-cum-competition organized for the first time by the district administration to mark the three-day Samskruti Sambhrama, Janapada and Zilla Utsav here on Saturday, received good response from animal lovers.
The department of veterinary services,
Karnataka Veterinary Association,
Hindustan Pet Charitable Trust and
KMF jointly organized the exhibition. Over 60 dogs of 20 breeds like
Great Dane,
Labrador,
Mudhol Hounds,
Pug,
German Shepherd and
Husky were brought to the expo.
“The dog competition encourages people to adopt animals like dogs. Our Labrador performed well in this competition,” said Anup Tanduru from Haveri.
Praveen Patil from Savanur who exhibited his German Shepherd said the show will help people and children know about dogs. “This show will also create knowledge about how to protect pets and their food habits. The district administration and other organizations must organize such events frequently in our district,” he opined.
