Welfare, hostel scheme implemented to make foodgrain available

Welfare and hostel scheme has been implemented in State to make foodgrain available to welfare organisations, hostels and ashrams.

In a circular to the district collectors, Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection and Managing Director Civil Supplies Corporation, the Commissioner Department of Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection has directed to take action as per guidelines with regard to implementation of the scheme.

Under this scheme eligible and selected welfare organisations, Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Other Backward Class hostels will be mapped to nearby fair price shops in each district.

These organisations will be able to obtain allotment from fair price shops. These hostels will be able to obtain food grain allotment on 6-month basis. These organisations will be able to take food grain only from the 1st to 21st ofevery month.

Selection process of organisations: Under this scheme, the identity and eligibility of beneficiaries has been fixed to ensure the authenticity of the beneficiaries apart from strengthening the allotment and distribution system of foodgrain.

Under this the residential organisations and centralised mess that are running will be selected on priority. Various educational middle, pre-matric, post-matric diploma/certificate, graduate, post graduate Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Other Backward Class hostels, organisations for destitute, disabled and senior citizens run by the state government departments will come under this. Similarly non-government organisations that are recognised by the government departments have also been included. Surprise inspection of organisations: The District Collector will get a surprise inspection conducted on random basis of all organisations. The inspection officer will fill the form online.

The foodgrain of the following month will be fixed on the basis of number of beneficiaries present during the inspection. On complaint over the selection of organisations, the concerned Collector will redress the issue.
