Sky turned overcast in Dehradun in evening

As per the Met department’s forecast of wet spell from Saturday, the sky turned overcast in Dehradun in the evening on Friday. The weathermen said that it might rain in the plains and in the hills in many of the districts of the State while snowfall would occur at the high-altitude places with height 3500 m and above on Saturday. The wet spell might continue for the next two days from Saturday, they added. There is a possibility of more rain/snow as another western disturbance is expected to hit the state on March 1 and it would trigger rain/snow across the state for another two days. According to the Met officials, it might rain at many places during the Holi festival on March 1.

In Dehradun, it was sunny till the afternoon and the climate started changing with the onset of the evening.  The maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 29.5 degree Celsius, seven notches above the normal, and 11.6 degree Celsius, three notches above the normal, respectively in Dehradun on Friday. The highest maximum temperature of the state 29.9°C was recorded at Dhanauri while the lowest minimum temperature 3.9°C was recorded at Purola.

Uttarakhand Meteorological centre director Bikram Singh said on Friday that if it rains and snows as per the forecast, the maximum temperature is expected to dip by three or four degrees while the minimum temperature may rise a bit on Saturday. The effect of western disturbances would continue into Sunday and as an impact, several places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts might experience rain and snow, depending on the altitude of the places.  The climate would turn dry on February 26 and the same would prevail for another few days.

The weather forecast for Dehradun on Saturday is generally cloudy sky and light rain/thunder showers at isolated places. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 23 degree Celsius and 12 degree Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Saturday.

As per the weather report sent by the Met department, in Pantnagar, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 29.4 degree Celsius, five notches above the normal, and 9.7 degree Celsius, two notches above the normal respectively. In Mukteshwar, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 19.4 degree Celsius, five notches above the normal, and 9.7 degree Celsius, two notches above the normal. In Tehri, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded were 19.8 degree Celsius and 8.8 degree Celsius respectively.
