MUMBAI: A boat carrying 15 persons including a local MLA and a police official capsized near Madh Island here late today evening, police said.

All persons onboard, including MLA Aslam Shaikh, are safe, an official said.

The boat was carrying devotees returning from a Dargah on Madh Island, an official of the Disaster Management Cell of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation told PTI.

The boat capsized close to the shore, in shallow waters, which averted a tragedy, he said.
