A 46-year-old man allegedly committed suicide in his car in north Delhi’s Timarpur area on Saturday afternoon. The police said that the deceased was facing a financial crisis and had been upset because of it.

According to the police, Raj Kumar Arora, resident of Model Town, was found dead in his car around 12.45 p.m. with a gunshot injury on the right side of his head.

“A PCR call was received at 12:45 p.m. stating that a man was lying unconscious in his car inside Nirankari Colony ground and a pistol was lying next to him along with two mobile phones,” said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (north) Harendra Singh.

Arora was rushed to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital and his family was informed who then shifted him to a private hospital in Shalimar Bagh where he succumbed to his injuries.

The police said that during preliminary probe, it was revealed that he was a property dealer and suffered a major loss. He had owned a shop in Timarpur which he had given on rent. “He also sold his flat in Model Town due to the financial loss. Presently, he and his family were living with his brother,” said Mr. Singh adding that the deceased was in “depression” because of several factors.
