Opposition Congress members on Friday charged that on the one hand the State government banned use of water for 'Rabi' crops by farmers and on the other hand, the industries are provided uninterrupted supply of water.
On behalf of Leader of Opposition T.S. Singhdeo, Congress member Mohan Markam raised the issue regarding water consumption and supply to the K.S.K. Power Plant in Janjgir-Champa district during question hour.
Industry Minister Amar Agrawal while replying to the query informed the House that as per temporary agreement with the power plant, the State government was supplying 17.52 million cubic meters of surface water to it.
The Minister denied that the power plant was being given any grant or subsidy by the industries department for running the plant. Replying to allegation that the plant was also using ground water, the Minister said the Central Water Board had permitted it to dig three bore wells.
