HYDERABAD:  In a relief to former MLC and Congress leader Prem Sagar Rao, the Hyderabad High Court on Friday granted conditional anticipatory bail to him in the cases registered by the police for his alleged financial assistance to Adivasis who were struggling for removal of Lambadas from Scheduled Tribe (ST) category.Justice T Rajani was passing this order in petitions filed separately by Prem Sagar Rao seeking anticipatory bail in the 25 cases registered against him in Adilabad district.

The Telangana public prosecutor alleged that the petitioner had instigated and financed the Adivasis to fight against Lambadas and the police have evidence to prove it.On the other hand, the petitioner’s counsel told the court that there was political vendetta behind registration of cases against the petitioner. In fact, the investigation was complete and all other accused in the case were out on regular bail, he noted.

The judge took into consideration the fact that the police had reported in the trial courts that the investigation was complete and that the other accused were released on bail, and granted conditional anticipatory bail to the petitioner directing him to cooperate with the case investigation and to present himself daily before the concerned police station from 10 am to 5 pm.
