A Supreme Court lawyer has filed a complaint with the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, NCPCR against singer Papon for kissing a minor contestant of a reality TV show. The complaint was filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act POCSO, alleging sexual assault after the singer uploaded a video on his Facebook page, where he is seen kissing a minor contestant of the show called Voice of India Kids 2018. NCPCR Chairperson Stuti Kacker told PTI that the commission has taken cognisance of the matter and are probing the incident. she said the notice has been issued to the channel and the accused and the commission has sought an action taken report from Mumbai Police. Meanwhile, the singer responded to the complaint saying that he was being victimised for no fault of his as he would never commit an indecent act. Popan said, if he had bad intentions, he would not have shared video on his Facebook page.
The child's father has also supported the singer in the case and said, Papon is a father figure to his daughter. He said, It was just a moment of affection that is being portrayed otherwise.
