Fund crunch with Chas Municipal Corporation (CMC) seems to have hindered the housing construction works under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). The CMC has targeted to construct 5440 houses under the PMAY scheme in a bid to make Chas a ‘Slum-free City’.
We got the first instalment to construct the house under PMAY completed the work at ground level, said Sunita Devi a resident of Bauri Mohalla Chas. “Now we are forced to stop the work as we did not have money and CMC has fund crunch,” she added.
Like Sunita the construction work of the houses of Rathu Bauri, MK Mahato, Chinta Das including others are stopped as they did not get their second instalments in the CMC area.
Admitting that construction work of more than 100 houses under this scheme has been on hold AK Mishra Nodal Officer of PMAY of CMC said, right now we do not have the fund to disburse among the beneficiaries.
“We have asked to allow more funds form the department, hope it will take 3-4 days more in disbursing”, added Mishra.
Notably, at least 71,829 people belongs to economically weaker section (EWS) and the lower income group (LIG), who do not have their own house or having ‘Kucha’ house will get ‘Pucca’ house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in Bokaro district, said a district administrative official.
Under PMAY 21,509 poor people residing in Chas block will get their houses, he said. While 6500 residing in Chandankiyari block, 16320 in Gomia, 6932 in Jaridih, 5367 in Nawadih, 7873 in Kasmar, 4028 in Paterwar, 3783 in Chandrapura and 176 people residing in Bermo will get ‘pucca’ houses under PMAY, informed the official.
