After the franchise's most successful season in more than a decade, the Jacksonville Jaguars have rewarded those who steered the ship, giving two-year extensions to executive VP of football operations Tom Coughlin, general manager Dave Caldwell and head coach Doug Marrone.

All three now have deals running through 2021, after previously being set to become free agents after 2019.

"The decision to extend the contracts of Tom, Dave and Doug isn't so much a reward for last season, which no doubt was impressive, as it is to recognize their importance to our football team this coming season and for years to follow," owner Shad Khan said in a statement. "We're past celebrating the accomplishments of our division title and playoff run, and now it's time to take the next step. We need the right leadership firmly in place to make that happen, and it's good to know we'll have that with Tom, Dave and Doug secure in their roles with the Jacksonville Jaguars."

Coughlin, 71, rejoined the Jaguars -- the team he coached from their inaugural season in 1995 until 2002 -- last offseason after 12 years as the New York Giants' head coach. In his new role, Coughlin was given final say over personnel decisions while working closely with Caldwell, who has been the team's GM since 2013.

"The success we had last season was due to the efforts of many people, but Doug and Dave certainly played key leadership roles in guiding our team," Coughlin said in a statement. "They set the tone and managed the process on a daily basis, and we look forward to building on that process throughout this offseason and the coming season."

Caldwell had a major hand in the team's defense developing into one of the league's best in 2017, behind free-agent additions Calais Campbell, A.J. Bouye, Tashaun Gipson and Malik Jackson and recent draft picks Jalen Ramsey, Yannick Ngakoue, Telvin Smith and Myles Jack. He also added Leonard Fournette and Cam Robinson in the 2017 draft to help take the pressure off of Blake Bortles.

Marrone, 53, led the team to a 10-6 record and two playoff victories in his first season as full-time head coach. He had previously spent two years at the helm in Buffalo (going 15-17) and the last two games of 2016 as interim head coach in Jacksonville, going 1-1. He is 26-24 for his career in the regular season, and 2-1 in the playoffs.
