Infant mortality rate declines in MP

The percentage of newborn child mortality rate has come down from 51 to 32 following improvement in the care of pregnant women in the State. A special arrangement has been made by the State for registration and regular health examination of pregnant women soon after conception.

Secure institutionalised deliveries of both normal and complicated cases are being ensured According to the National Family Health Survey 2005-06, and only 26.2 per cent deliveries were undertaken in health centres in this period.

As per data of year 2015-16 80.8 per cent deliveries are being conducted in maternity health centres. As many as 1536 Government maternity centres are operating in the state for safe delivery.

Free transport, medicinal treatment, blood transfusion and free food arrangements are being ensured through Janani-Shishu Suraksha Programme for safe elivery.

More than 58 lakh women have been provided health services from year 2015-16 till date through health camps.

The Roshni Clinics have been set up in the district hospital for diagnosis and treatment of pregnancy related complications and other diseases in women every Wednesday. Women referred to these clinics are being provided treatment and medicines. From 2015-16 till date 1.41 lakh women have been examined and treated.

Currently 54 newborn intensive care units are being run in 49 district hospitals and 5 medical colleges of Guna and Shivpuri district hospitals in the year 2008.

Child Intensive Care Units have been set up with the intention of providing prompt health services with children up to 12 years of age showing severe symptoms. These units are operating in 7 districts.

Newborns with serious symptoms are given proper care and treatment in the Paediatric-Emergency Triage and Treatment Units on the basis of their symptoms. These units are operating in all district hospitals of the State. As many as 22 thousand 163 children have been admitted and treated in these units.

Dastak Abhiyan was introduced in state from 2017 with the aim of making people aware of the importance of health of children. As many as 76 lakh 68 thousand 973 children were screened in this campaign.

At least 26 thousand 973 severely malnourished children were identified out of which 8,256 children were admitted to nutrition rehabilitation centres for treatment. Blood transfusion arrangement was made for 1476 acute anaemia cases.

As many as 27,162 children with diarrhea, 6,509 with pneumonia and 18,696 children with symptoms of other diseases were given treatment.
