Arun Jaitely lauded the leadership of campaign against corruption and crime

Union Finance minister Arun Jaitely lauded the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath saying that his relentless campaign against corruption and crime has resulted in an era of positive change making Uttar Pradesh a favourite destination for investors.

Addressing the concluding session of ‘UP Investors Summit 2018’, the Finance minister said, “The Investors’ Summit is the first major step for revival of the state’s economy and activating investment cycle. By his leadership, Yogi Adityanath has given a new direction to the state and it will usher in an era of political stability.’’

“The Chief Minister by taking tough decisions by implementing Ease of doing business (EODB) and has been relentless in toning up the law and order in UP which were pre-requisites for attracting investment to the state.  The people of UP were looking towards Yogi Adityanath with high expectations,’’ said Jitely.

“The investors not only look at directions of the decisions made by the Chief Minister but also the speed at which they are implemented,’’ the Finance minister said.

Without naming the previous Samajwadi Party regime, Jaitley  said, “Neither the society will be at ease nor investments would ever take place if the government pursues a narrow political line where manipulation, family and caste interests reign supreme.’’

The Finance minister said that the UP Investors’ Summit has proved that the present BJP government in the state has ushered in an era of positive change in governance and administration within less than a year of taking over reins of the government.

``The investors nowadays have a choice to invest between state and even in countries due to globalization. By organizing the Summit, UP has demonstrated that it can successfully compete  for attracting investments. It is always the economic activity that leads to job creation and boost revenue collection enabling the  government to increase public spending on social and physical infrastructure,’’ said Jaitely.

Suggesting the UP government to be prepared for major programmes of skill development as there would be higher requirement of skilled human resources for the upcoming Defence Manufacturing Corridor  in Bundelkhand, Jaitely said, “ We need specialists for defence sector. Though there is IIT in Kanpur, there is need for more  technical institutions along the Defence Corridor.‘’

The Finance minister said,” I have gone to Noida and seen Lucknow today. But in the next one decade, there would be 20 such cities in the state.”

Jaitley also stressed that by modernization of Railway, tapping tourism potential and development of rural infrastructure, UP could n achieve its goal by better utilization of funds of Centre and state share.
