BHUBANESWAR: Employees of the Central Electricty Supply Utility (CESU), who have been protesting the management’s decision to extend distribution franchisee agreement with three private companies for another six months, continued their protest by wearing black badges during office hours.

Convenor of the Central Electricity Employees Joint Coordination Committee PK Patnaik said the three franchisees - Enzen, Fedco, RUPL - have failed to achieve even a single parameter of the DFA during the last five years.

As per the agreement signed in 2012-13, the franchisees are required to achieve 100 per cent billing, collection, consumer and feeder metering and above all, bring down the aggregated technical and commercial loss to 15 per cent at the end of the fifth year. Despite their failure in achieving the target, the management has extended the agreementwithout proper audit. The next course of action will be decided on March 3, Patnaik added.
