Nishatpura police have seized a car transporting liquor illegally and recovered 36 cartons of country made liquor worth `1 lakh near Kalyanpur trisection in the night on Wednesday.
Acting on a tip off, police stopped at bypass road Lambhakheda a white coloured Tata Indica and when the car was searched, 36 cartons of country made liquor were recovered.
Police said that when the car was signaled to stopped the driver accelerated and esaped the barricading but was chased and flagged down near Kalyanpur. The driver left the car and escaped the spot.
The car bearing registration number MP04HC1485 was seized. Based on the registration number the car driver and accused would be nabbed. The police have started to search for the accused.
A total of 324 litre of liquor was seized from the car. After the preliminary investigation, the police have registered a case under section 34 (A) of the Excise Act.
Meanwhile, an absconding accused missing for past 10 years has been nabbed by Nishatpura police on Wednesday.
Acting on a tip off a man was detained from Nishatpura area. The accused was identified as Pappan alias Salman. The accused was wanted for the past years and temporary warrant has been issued.
During the investigation police found that the accused has been booked for several crimes by Koh-e-Fiza, Hanumanganj and Nishatpura police and was wanted in several cases.
More cases would be revealed by the accused in the further investigation. The crime committed during the period of absconding would be investigated.
