Vadodara: The Vadodara railway division has introduced parking charges for ricksahws, taxis, private cars and other commercial vehicles using the parking facilities in railway premises at Vadodara and Nadiad railway stations.
According to the railway division, it has issued contract for the auto/taxi parking lanes at the eastern side of Vadodara and Nadiad railway stations in the first phase and will gradually roll out such charges at other railway stations falling in the division where there is a dearth of parking space.

“The move has been initiated as a result of new policy introduced by the Railway board and is a part of broader perspective to leverage revenue from railway assets as part of non-fare revenue generation and to provide better amenities to the travelling public,” said an official of the Vadodara railway division.

Accordingly, private cars parked in the taxi lane at Vadodara railway station will have to pay Rs 60 for parking up to four hours, Rs 90 for parking between four to eight hours and Rs 140 between eight and 24 hours.
