Washington,

US President Donald Trump’s plan for peace between Israel and Palestine is nearly ready, the country’s ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley has said, indicating that Washington would push for a Palestinian state.

“They’re coming up with a plan. It won’t be loved by either side, and it won’t be hated by either side…I think they’re finishing it up,” media reports quoted Haley as saying on Thursday at the University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics.

When Institute head David Axelrod asked whether the US peace proposal would be built around a Palestinian State, she said, “It’s for them to decide.” “It is hard for me to see how they would want [a single state]…they are pushing toward a two-state outcome.”

Her statement came a day after President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and adviser Jason Greenblatt met with Security Council ambassadors and sought their support for the peace plan.

On Wednesday, Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas called for an international conference to be held by mid-2018 to launch a wider peace process as an alternative to the US-mediated negotiations.
