Having been built on the company's versatile Heartect platform, the new Swift is lighter and more rigid. Despite a marginal reduction in overall length and height, the car is slightly wider and offers increased wheelbase, which translated to a slightly more spacious cabin. The new Maruti Suzuki Swift also for the first time gets an automatic option in both the petrol and diesel variants, as it now gets the company's auto gear shift a.k.a. AGS unit. Engine options, however, remains unchanged and the car continues to come with the 82 bhp 1.2-litre petrol and 74 bhp 1.3-litre, along with the same 5-speed manual gearbox. The AGS comes as an option with the VXI/VDI and ZXI/ZDI variants. Having said that fuel efficiency has increased and while the petrol version offers an average of 22 kmpl, the diesel unit returns 28.4 kmpl.

All these new features, improved styling, and better fuel efficiency show that the Maruti Suzuki Swift will continue to be a crowd favourite in its segment. And frankly, the numbers speak for themselves. We can surely expect to see a huge surge in Maruti's February sales figures next month. As of now, the car is available with a waiting period of 6 to 8 weeks depending on the variant and colour option.
