Market Now: Nifty IT index slips on H-1B visa worries; TCS, Infosys down 1%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index was trading flat at 12,736 around 11:20 am (IST) on Friday after Trump administration announced new procedure of issuing H-1B visas.
The Trump administration has announced a new policy that makes very tough the procedure of issuing H-1B visas to those to be employed at one or more third-party worksites, a move that will hugely impact Indian IT companies and their employees, PTI reported.
Following the development, shares of Tata Consultancy Services (down 1.35 per cent), Infosys (down 0.86 per cent) and Oracle Financial Services Software (down 0.38 per cent) declined up to 1 per cent.
However, shares of MindTree (up 4.90 per cent), Infibeam Incorporation (up 1.75 per cent), HCL Technologies (up 1.64 per cent), Tech Mahindra (up 1.26 per cent), KPIT Technologies (up 1.17 per cent), Tata Elxsi (up 0.41 per cent) and Wipro (up 0.32 per cent) were still in the green.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was 43 points up at 10,426, while the BSE Sensex was 126 points up at 33,946.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 33 were trading in the green, while 17 were in the red.
