‘Facility will work on AI, blockchain’

Tech Mahindra, a provider of consulting, digital and business re-engineering services, announced on Friday that it would invest Canadian $100 million over the next five years to set up a Center of Excellence in Toronto.

The center will work on technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain with focus on areas like Fintech and Smart Cities, according to a company statement. The announcement comes as Canadian PM Justin Trudeau is in India. The Toronto center will also jointly develop cutting-edge business solutions in digital technologies in collaboration with academic institutes, innovators and accelerators in the start-up ecosystem.

“The partnership will focus on future technologies like AI and blockchain...and draw from the best of both the worlds, leveraging tech capability of India and the innovation edge of Canada,” C.P. Gurnani, CEO and MD, Tech Mahindra, said.
