The Delhi Emporium on Baba Kharak Singh Marg will soon host an incubation and innovation centre encouraging young entrepreneurs of the city to follow their dream.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday approved the setting up of the centre and said that the Delhi Emporium has ample space to accommodate the incubation centre. He also said that its central location would attract young entrepreneurs.
Hyderabad summit
The idea of setting up an incubation centre in Delhi was developed during the Innovation Summit at Hyderabad in November last year, which was attended by Mr. Sisodia along with Industries Minister Satyendar Jain and senior officials from the departments concerned, said a government spokesperson.
The government felt that Delhi being the national Capital and centre of economic, social, educational and technological activities was ideally placed for developing itself as a major centre of innovation and start-up culture. The new space will house approximately 50-plus innovators and start-ups at any point of time.
“The ecosystem created will enhance member knowledge, build networks and aid start-up funding. This incubator centre will work with entrepreneurs and raise the profile of its community of innovators and start-ups, thus creating jobs for the betterment of the economy of Delhi,” said the government in a statement.
