An educational tour turned out to be a nightmare for a 23-year-old girl student, who while taking bath in a hotel room in West Delhi, found that someone was making her MMS. Following which the girl rushed out of the washroom, raised an alarm and informed her roommates, after which police were informed.
After some initial proble, a 29-year-old man, a resident of Chennai, was arrested. Police said they have seized the I- Phone of the man and found the objectionable video in his phone. A senior police officer said the incident took place at a hotel in Mayapuri area following which police registered an FIR at the Kirti Nagar police station. The complainant had come to Delhi on a seven-day tour from Ranchi, Jharkhand.
The woman had come to Delhi on February 16 and went to Jaipur and Agra. On Tuesday morning, she came to Delhi where her college authorities, through a travel agent, booked 22 rooms in the Jagir Hotel.
The officer said, "On Wednesday morning, at around 7:30am, the 23-year-old girl, a student of B.Ed at a college in Ranchi was taking bath in her hotel room washroom when she suspected that someone is making her video through the ventilation shaft. Staying at room no 306, she rushed out of the washroom, informed her two roommates who then approached their female professor. When they approached the hotel authorities, the hotel tried to hush up the matter. It was only when the group of college students huddled around the reception and scanned through the registers that they found that the room next to the victim's room, Room No 307 had no names.
The students started putting pressure on the hotel authorities after which the manager opened the room. There, the student group found a woman and three men. While the woman managed to flee from the hotel premises, the students made a call to the Police Control Room (100),"
Police sources said that it is not the first time that a complaint of someone making MMS of a woman came to the notice of the police. However, no formal complaint was made by the woman as the Jagir Hotel convinced the woman not to complain.
Confirming the incident, Vijay Kumar, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) said, "The Complainant was on an education tour with her college Group and at the time of incident was staying at Jagir Hotel, Kirti Nagar. Complainant in her statement made allegation of voyeurism against an alleged suspect, namely Deepak Bora, who was also staying in the same hotel. Based on the complaint, we have registered an FIR under sections 354(c), 509 of the IPC and 66(E) of the I.T. Act. We have seized the mobile phone of the man,".
