Versatile actor Kamal Haasan launched his political journey from the ‘House of Kalam’, the residence of former president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam here on Wednesday morning, seeking to establish a new ‘yuga’ (era) and vowing to serve the people both with his talents and resources.
Mr. Haasan visited Mr. Kalam’s house at 7.35 a.m. He spent about 45 minutes at the former president’s residence, taking blessings from A.P.J.M. Maraikayar, the 101-year-old elder brother of Mr. Kalam, interacting with the family members and getting a glimpse of ‘Mission of Life’, a gallery displaying the Missile Man’s memorabilia. After presenting a memento, a portrait of Mr. Kalam, Mr. Maraikayar placed his hand on Mr. Haasan’s head and offered his blessings. Cherishing the memories of Mr. Kalam, who had aspired for a developed India by 2020, the actor-politician stepped out of the house and commenced his journey named ‘Naalai Namadhe’ (Tomorrow Is Ours).
Mr. Haasan, staying clear of ideological issues, declared that his priority was to redress the hunger and poverty of the people. “I am more concerned about the hunger of the people than about isms,” he said.
