2-day Lok Kala fest in B’swar from Mar 6

In a bid to revive the extinct culture and  give recognition to the artists associated  with the folk arts, the district administration here has mooted a plan to hold a two- day fair, the Lok Kala Mahotsav,  at Gandhi Smruti Bhawan on March 6 and 7.

In this regard while a preparatory meeting was held under the chairmanship of district Collector Ramesh Chandra Rout, ADM Manas Ranjan Padhi, DRDA PD Trilochan Pradhan, Culture officer Manaswani Rout and several other  officials  participated in the discussion  for  the success and smooth conduct of the event.

It was informed that three teams from each block would be participating in the event. The artists groups and troupes registered with the Block Kala Sanskruti Sangha(BKSS)  would be  considered  for selection to participate in the event . They would be selected by the BKSS and BDO of respective blocks.

In the two days, the folk performing art, including Ghoda Nacha,Chadhea –Chadehhani, Kela-Keluni, Ram Leela, Sambalpuri,Sankirtan, Chhau,Dadhinata and tribal dance  etc. would be showcased by the artists .

“On the day of inauguration there would be a rally and procession around the town by the artists wearing their traditional dresses and attires. They would be exhibiting their potentials and talents between 10 am -5 pm. Each day  three best  troupes would be awarded.

The event is organized for the first time as per the direction of the State Government. The objective of the fair is to revive, promote and propagate the extinct culture as well as to encourage the artists,” said the district Collector.
