Jayalalithaa’s statue to be unveiled on February 24

CHENNAI: Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam will unveil a statue of the late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa at the AIADMK headquarters on February 24, her birth anniversary.

On the occasion, both leaders will launch the party mouthpiece ‘Namadhu Amma’. The same day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the birth anniversary celebrations of Jayalalithaa to be held at Kalaivanar Arangam. Responding to a tender floated for constructing a memorial for the late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on the Marina, five firms have applied.

The tenders were opened on Wednesday, the last date.  The value of the tender is Rs 43.63 crore. The PWD authorities will choose the lowest bid and announce it on March 1.
