Minister for Public Works Ramakrishna Dhavalikar on Wednesday assured the members in the state Assembly that the estimates of developmental works of Rs 15 crore under plan and Rs 3 crore under non-plan works will be sanctioned by March in all the Assembly constituencies.

He also said that those PWD engineers, who cite Goods and Service Tax as reasons for delay in sending the proposals to the government, will be transferred immediately. He went on to add that additional works of Rs 10 crore will be taken up after March 2018.

Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar had raised the issue through calling attention about the partisan attitude of the government by way of not attending to the development works in the constituencies represented by opposition legislators despite submitting their priority lists. He demanded that the works be completed before the onset of monsoon.

Apart from the opposition, some ruling MLAs also expressed dissatisfaction over non-implementation of developmental works related to roads and water supply in their respective constituencies.

Besides Kavlekar, Churchill Alemao, Dayanand Sopte, Antonio Fernandes, Clafacio Dias, Isidore Fernandes, Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, Nilkanth Halarnkar, Nilesh Cabral, Filip Nerry Rodrigues, Pravin Zantey and Prasad Gaonkar demanded that works mentioned under priority be completed before monsoon.

Dhavalikar said that the government was working without discrimination and is striving for development of entire state. He said that works related to development are being taken up in all the constituencies.

“These works are in various stages of approvals and are targeted for commencement before the onset of monsoon and these have been planned by taking into confidence all the elected representatives who have accorded priorities,” he added.

PWD Minister claimed that several works in all the constituencies are in progress and it will be ensured that they were completed before the arrival of the monsoon, especially road repair works.
