PANAJI: Hours after being discharged from Mumbai's
Lilavati Hospital, Goa chief minister
Manohar Parrikar tabled the budget 2018 in the assembly on Thursday.
After landing in Goa, Parrikar first went to his residence in Panaji. Parrikar arrived at the state assembly complex and held a cabinet meeting. Ministers, MLAs and officials lined up to greet him as he alighting from his official car at 2.25pm. He walked, in his usual style, leaving no indication of his illness, for a meeting with officials.
During his speech in the House, Parrikar said that generating employment would be the main focus of his budget.
”This year will be the year of employment”, Parrikar said. The chief minister said he would come out with schemes after sometime.
Parrikar thanked the MLAs and well wishers who prayed for his early recovery.
Earlier, the House passed the appropriation bill moved by Parrikar.
Speaker Pramod Sawant said earlier it was scheduled to be a month-long budget session but later it was curtailed in view of the chief minister’s health.
Speaker Pramod Sawant had announced a few hours back that Parrikar would table the state budget at 3pm on Thursday in the
Goa legislative assembly.
Parrikar was being treated in Mumbai for pancreatitis since February 15.
