RANCHI: The
Jharkhand government has banned the Kerala-based Popular Front of India (
PFI) in the state saying “members of this organisation are influenced by the
Islamic State terror group (IS)”.
The ban comes after police claim that there were pronounced activities of the group in Pakur and
Sahebganj districts of the tribal-dominated Santhal Pargana region.
The government issued a communique saying that in course of its probe, the home department was convinced that some members of PFI from south Indian states had visited Syria and are working for the IS.
