Burnout Paradise Remastered Does Not Have Micro-Transactions, Original Soundtrack Unchanged

Highlights

  • Burnout Paradise Remastered will not have in-game purchases
  • It retains the soundtrack of the original
  • It's coming to the PS4, Xbox One, and eventually PC

EA has confirmed that Burnout Paradise Remastered for the PS4, Xbox One, and eventually PC, will not have micro-transactions. This comes after a Reddit user noticed that the game’s PS Store page made a mention of “in-game purchases”.

Global Community Engagement Manager at EA Ben Walke took to Twitter to allay all fears.

“Just a heads up, but the store listing for Burnout Paradise that mentions "In-game purchases optional" is an error. There is no MTX [micro-transactions] or any additional paid for content. Pitch forks down please,” he tweeted.

Given how EA handled the debacle that was Star Wars Battlefront 2 and the legislation over loot boxes that followed in its wake, it’s only fair for gamers to be skeptical of what to expect from the company. And it’s not like we haven’t seen games remastered with micro-transactions. Activision’s Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered showed us that some publishers will go the extra mile to profit even further from a decade-old game.

Furthermore, Walke also stated that the game’s original soundtrack — one of its biggest highlights — will be unchanged in Burnout Paradise Remastered.

“For those that keep asking me, the Burnout Paradise Remastered soundtrack remains the same,” he said in a subsequent tweet.

Burnout Paradise Remastered is out on March 16 for the PS4 and Xbox One. A PC version is in the works for release at a yet to be announced date.
