Minor boy saves uncle from crocodile attack

| | KENDRAPADA | in Bhubaneswar
In an exemplary courageous act, a 12-year-old boy of Kandira village in Rajanagar of Kendrapada district saved his uncle from an attack by a crocodile in a pond on Tuesday night.
According to reports, one Binod Mallick of the village was attacked by an estuarine crocodile while he had gone to the pond after attending nature’s call. The reptile grabbed his left hand and started dragging him further into the water body.
Hearing screams of Binod for help, his nephew Siku rushed to the spot. The boy switched a torchlight and focussed its light on the animal’s eyes. He also hit the crocodile’s mouth with a stick, following which the animal released his uncle and receded deep into the pond.
The victim sustained injuries in the attack and was hospitalised.
