Brockie: Goals will start flowing at Downs soon

2018-02-22 12:26

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns striker Jeremy Brockie believes the goals will start flowing soon and is grateful for the fans' support during his lean period.

The 30-year-old missed four good opportunities in Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Free State Stars at the Loftus Versveld Stadium.

With over 50 goals scored during his time with SuperSport United, the New Zealand international is confident of delivering the goods for the Brazilians in the near future.

Speaking after the draw with Ea Lla Koto, Brockie told reporters: "I've had a drought before and I think every striker goes through difficult periods in terms of hitting the back of the net.

"And you just got to stay calm and composed. You can't let it get to you, because if you do there's no chance that it will come so I will just keep getting in the right areas and keep trying to hit the target. The supply I'm getting is very good and it won't be too long."

The player also expressed gratitude to Downs supporters who cheered him after the final whistle at Loftus, saying: "Special mention to the fans, because even though I had a couple of chances that I didn't put in the back of the net, they cheered and supported me, I think. I thank them for that."
