A Alexander assumes office as Labour Commissioner

KOCHI: Additional Labour Commissioner (Enforcement) A Alexander assumed charge as the State Labour Commissioner the other day. As nodal officer, Alexander was instrumental in the implementation of ‘Aawaz,’ a unique health insurance scheme of the Labour Department for migrant labourers. He also acted as the nodal officer for the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ programme, as CEO of Kerala Toddy Workers Welfare Fund Board and as CEO of Unorganised Workers Social Security Board.

Alexander, a native of Thiruvananthapuram, joined government service as Assistant Labour Officer in Kunnamkulam and has worked as District Labour Officer in Thiruvananthapuram and Wayanad, District Deputy Labour Commissioner in Thrissur and Thiruvananthapuram and Joint Labour Commissioner at the headquarters.

He also took the initiative for the computerisation and software upgradation in the Labour Department. He was conferred with the state government’s good service entry for his contributions. His wife Telma is a bank employee. Research student Tomy and Fashion Designing student Ashmi are the couple’s children.
