Namadhu Amma, a Tamil daily to be brought out by the ruling AIADMK, will be launched on Saturday, coinciding with the 70th birth anniversary of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
Chief Minister and co-coordinator of the party Edappadi K. Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister and coordinator O. Panneerselvam will light the traditional lamp at the publication’s office in Alwarpet. They will formally launch the newspaper at the party’s headquarters in Royapettah.
The party began feeling the need for a new mouthpiece in August last year, as control over Dr. Namadhu MGR, regarded as an organ of the party until then, remained with rebel leader T.T.V. Dhinakaran following the merger of the opposing factions of the AIADMK.
Marudhu Alagaraj, who was in charge of the editorial operations of Dr. Namadhu MGR back then and is now tasked with overseeing the ruling party’s newspaper project, said the publication will have a minimum of 12 pages.
