Coast Guard helicopter makes emergency landing in Golden Gate ParkA United States Coast Guard helicopter made an emergency landing in Golden Gate Park early Thursday morning after a maintenance light turned on in the aircraft, a spokesman said. “We had a helicopter on a search and rescue case that’s now closed,” said Petty Officer Cory Mendenhall. “They had a maintenance light come on and instead of continuing on their flight, they made an emergency landing right now they’re in Golden Gate Park.” The plane reportedly landed around 8 a.m. in the Big Rec Field near Lincoln and Seventh Street. The landing happened without any incident or injuries, and a crew is now evaluating the aircraft. “It was just precautionary,” Mendenhall said.
