T.N. CM to lead all-party delegation to meet PM on Cauvery issue

A decision to this effect was taken at the all-party meeting chaired by Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palanisway in Chennai.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami will lead a delegation of leaders from all political parties, representatives from various farmers associations and Members of Parliament from the State to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi soon and press him for immediate constitution of the Cauvery Management Board.

A decision to this effect was taken at the all-party meeting chaired by the Chief Minister at Namakkal Kavignar Maaligai in Fort St. George here on Thursday.

After day-long deliberations, the meeting passed three resolutions.

The main resolution was the demand for constitution of Cauvery Management Board and Cauvery Water Regulatory Authority within six weeks from the Supreme Court judgment on February 16, 2018. The government also decided to agree in total the demands made by all parties and consult with legal experts on all aspects raised to take appropriate action.

About 35 political parties and 14 farmers' associations took part in the meeting. DMK working president and Leader of the Opposition M.K. Stalin, TNCC president Su. Thirunavukkarasar, BJP State president Tamilisai Soundararajan, MDMK founder Vaiko, CPI leader R. Mutharasan, CPI (M) leader K. Balakrishnan, VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan were among those who participated in the meeting.
