THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Mayor V K Prasanth on Tuesday said there is no reason to be concerned over the mandatory requirement for no objection certificate from the Airport Authority of India (AAI) in the areas adjacent to the Thiruvananthapuram airport. At present, less than 50 applications in this regard are pending with the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation and officers concerned have been instructed to speed up the process of transferring the applications to the airport for the NoC, he said.

T’Puram Express had reported on Tuesday (‘Investments Fall Flat’) that apartment owners in the vicinity of the airport are finding it difficult to sell their property since the buildings lacked permanent TC numbers. As per Corporation norms, apartments or residences with temporary TC cannot be sold to a third party.

The Mayor said as per the new AAI regulations, all  high-rises falling in the ‘red’ zone will require an NoC. At present, the NoC is required for buildings over 16 metres in height. There is also an online facility for submitting applications to the AAI, the Mayor said. AAI does not collect any fee for this facility, and stern action will be taken against any person who collects fee from the public in this regard, he said.
