It’s their birthday and they can drink if they want to.
Both Medusa Brewing Company of Hudson and Wormtown Brewery of Worcester celebrate birthdays in March and are celebrating with – shockingly – beer.
First up, Medusa will celebrate its third anniversary on March 3 at their 111 Main St. brewery with an all day party, beginning at noon and continuing through 11 p.m.
The party will feature some of the year’s best beers, several new beers brewed specifically for the party, barrel-aged beers and numerous cask beers.
Noah’s Taste will be on hand with a build-your-own-burger bar.
Throughout the day, there will be seven different bands performing, including “The Fellowship of the King,” an Elvis tribute band.
The event will turn to 21 plus at 6 p.m.
Wormtown will celebrate its 8th birthday on March 17 from noon to 10 p.m.
As in the past, Wormtown will brew a special beer for the event. Birthday Brew 8 is an American barleywine brewed with seven different malts and several different hops, including Cascade, Centennial, Pepite and Chinook. Birthday Brew 8 is a big beer, coming in at 11 percent alcohol by volume.
Along with the Birthday Brew, Wormtown will pull specialty beers from the cellar and put them on draft to help with the celebration. Smokestack Urban Barbecue will be on hand for food and there will be live music throughout the day. In addition, there will be new baseball hats and T-shirts available.
Along with the two birthday parties, there are two beer festivals coming up.
The first-ever beer festival in Worcester, Brew-Woo, is coming back for its eighth annual event. The Brew-Woo will be held on March 31 at the DCU Center.
There are two sessions – 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m.
Tickets are $35 for general admission and $60 for VIP. VIP ticket holders will get 40 drink tickets, a special festival tasting glass and early entry.
Breweries attending Brew-Woo include Barrel House Z, Castle Island Brewing Company, Mast Landing Brewing and Stone Cow Brewing.
Tickets are available at https://brewwoo.com/tickets/.
The Massachusetts Brewers Guild, the non-profit trade group for Massachusetts breweries, will hold its second Mass. Power Beer Festival on April 20 at the SoWa Power Station, 540 Harrison Ave., Boston.
The festival will have two sessions, 1 to 4:30 p.m. and 6 to 9:30 p.m.
The event will feature 50 breweries from Massachusetts, including Craft Roots Brewing of Milford, Exhibit ‘A’ Brewing and Jack’s Abby Craft Lagers of Framingham, Lookout Farm Brewery of Natick and Start Line Brewing Company of Hopkinton.
There will also be food and live music throughout the day.
Tickets are $55 each and are available at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/power-beer-fest-tickets-43136366032?aff=efbevent.
All money raised will go to the Mass. Brewers Guild and will help fund its legislative efforts, as well as provide educational opportunities to local brewers.
