Elected district, panchayat members can utilise grant

Elected representatives of district and janpad panchayats could utilise grant in the development works of their respective constituency. Directives in this regard have been issued by the panchayat and rural development department on Monday.

Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development Gopal Bhargava has said that grant is provided by Madhya Pradesh Government to the elected representatives of Janpad and District Panchayats like Members of Parliament and Members of Legislative Assembly.

Under this, President of District Panchayat, Vice President and each elected member of District Panchayat can sanction work of their preference worth Rs25 Lakh, Rs15 lakh and Rs10 lakh respectively in their constituencies. Similarly, works according to their preference worthRs12 lakh, Rs8 lakh andRs4 lakh can be sanctioned by President janpad panchayat, Vice President and Member janpad panchayat respectively.

Bhargava has informed that clear directives have been issued by the Panchayat and Rural Development Department related to the proper use of this grant.

Accordingly, District Panchayat Presidents in their entire districts, Presidents Janpad panchayat in their Janpad panchayat constituencies and members of district and janpad panchayats could sanction infrastructure development works in their respective constituencies.

The grants can be utilised for construction of cement concrete road and drainage system, culverts, boundary wall of government buildings, construction of Government buildings including community halls, school buildings, health centers, construction of additional room in Government buildings, passengers waiting rooms, boundary wall of crematories and graveyards, gram choupals, rangmanch (Stage) construction, public platforms, laying of paver blocks inside Government properties, LED street lights, construction of public toilets and toilets in Government buildings, spot source Nal-Jal yojana, construction of ground level water tanks and RO water plants.

Potable water transportation, construction of muram and gravel road, construction of check dams and stop dams, Swagat Dwars, solar energy lights and purchase of water tanker are banned under this grant.

Competent administrative and technical permissions are necessary to obtain for these works.

Besides, it is must to select gram panchayat as an implementing agency.

Work can be carried out by the concerned department on the basis of consent.
