YSRCP chief whip flays Naidu for settling for special package instead of SCS

YSR Congress Parliamentary Party will move a no-confidence motion against the Narendra Modi Government after pressing for a discussion on the Special Category Status (SCS) in Parliament when the Budget session resumes, its chief whip in Parliament Y.V. Subba Reddy said on Wednesday.

Walking along with YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy at Parchurivaripalem, near Kondepi in Prakasam district, Mr. Subba Reddy said he had already given notice for discussion under Rule 184 of the Lok Sabha, which entails voting, to Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.

“We expect the Speaker to facilitate a discussion on the issue before March 20,” he said.

“'We will move a no-confidence motion on March 21 after making a last-ditch attempt to convince the NDA government to grant SCS to Andhra Pradesh and take the final step of resigning from the Lok Sabha on April 6,” Mr. Subba Reddy added.

Taking objection to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu settling for a special package in lieu of SCS even without calling for an all-party meeting last year, Mr. Subba Reddy claimed there has been a rethink now in the TDP in favour of SCS after people, according to an opinion poll, treated the TDP as a “villain” for depriving the State’s right of SCS assured by the Centre at the time of bifurcation on the floor of Parliament.

He described Mr. Naidu as “a better actor than theaspian NTR” for changing his stand on the SCS0 and other issues frequently for “political gains”.

“Who has given the right to the Chief Minister and Union Minister Y.S. Chowdary to negotiate with the Centre and give up SCS assured to the State,” he asked.

Good response

Meanwhile, the padayatra evoked a good response as it meandered through the dusty lanes of Cheruvukommupalem, K. Agraharam, Vengalapuram Cross and Pedda Alavalapadu of the 94th day of Praja Sankalpa Padayatra, with people from different walks of life waiting on both sides of the road unmindful of the scorching sun to pour out their woes.

Giving a patient hearing, Mr. Jagan promised to address the issues raised by them on re-establishing “Rajanna Rajyam” in the State.

Mr. Jagan promised to bailout the farmers in distress after a group of farmers complained to him that loan waiver remained elusive to them even after running from pillar to post for four years, while cultivation of crops had become a big challenge due to ever-increasing cost of farm inputs and unremunerative price for their produce.

Heart-rending was the plight of one differently-abled Ankulaiah who completed B.Ed much against odds with his two younger brothers meeting his educational expenses working as farm labourers. “Though I have qualified in the Teachers Eligibility Test(TET), I have neither been provided a job nor the unemployment allowance promised by the TDP at the time of 2014 election,” he lamented.
