The Delhi Police Special Cell on Monday arrested three men and busted an inter-State drug cartel. Sleuths of the Cell said they have recovered five kgs of high graded heroin worth more than Rs 20 crore in the international market.
Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Special Cell said, “The arrested accused have been identified as Virender Pal Singh, Parvez and Ashfaq.”
The officer said the sleuths of the Northern Range had received information about these men, who supply heroin in Uttar Pradash and parts of Delhi-NCR.
“We found that this gang procured the drugs from West Bengal and Manipur. There are certain areas in West Bengal, especially naxalite affected areas and hill terrains of Manipur where persons cultivate opium illegally and processed these into pure form of heroin and transport the drugs in Delhi, UP and Uttarakhand through carriers,” said Yadav.
Based on technical surveillance and local intelligence, cops found out after three months about the main members of the gang-Ram Nath, Virender Pal Singh and Prevez carried the drugs to Delhi to supply them, UP and Uttarakhand.
“On February 13, the Special Cell found out that Ram Nath and Virender Pal Singh would come to Bhagwan Mahavir Marg, towards Barwala-Prahladpur Road in Delhi to supply huge consignment of drug to one Delhi based drug dealer in their Bolero car No. UP-25BN 2108. Accordingly, a trap was laid and both were nabbed,” said the officer.
At their instance, five days later, the kingpin, Parvez was arrested from Badaun in UP.
During sustained, the accused disclosed that due to poverty, Ram Nath started working as a carrier for Virender Pal Singh. He further disclosed that he used to go to Malda-Farraka, West Bengal and also to Manipur to procure heroin and also crude heroin. He used to de-board the train in midway and further travel by other means to hoodwink the law enforcement agencies. It was also disclosed that Khan and Nizam used to take huge consignment of crude heroin from Naxal affected areas of West Bengal. Khan and Nizam are infamous names in illegal trade of Narcotics drugs.
After getting crude heroin from their suppliers of Jharkhand and West Bengal, they used to prepare pure heroin at their hideouts.
On the other hand, the kingpin confessed that he is involved in several criminal cases including cases under sections of UP Gunda Act and NDPS Act case.
His son namely Adil was also involved in a NDPS Act case. His interrogation further revealed that he earlier used to procure heroin from different suppliers of Manipur, however, presently he use to get supply of heroin in bulk from Virender Pal Singh and one Alok of Manipur.
