Doctor Who is about to debut an unprecedented shakeup when the series returns later this year. As you probably already know, the show is not only getting a new showrunner as Steven Moffat steps down, but it's also getting a franchise first female Doctor!

Today, the BBC released a new logo to reflect that change, and it's pretty much setting the Internet on fire. Whovians everywhere are debating not just the pros and cons of having a female Doctor, but also whether the logo itself does justice to the momentous shift the show is making.

Despite what the naysayers say, this logo actually seems like a perfect portrayal of what's to come. Rather than an action-packed poster with Jodie Whittaker front and center, we've been treated to a mysterious and oddly serene logo that totally fits the bill. The new Doctor headed our way -- and how she'll change the universe -- is a mystery all of us are dying to solve, and to say this waiting period feels like the calm before the storm is kind of an understatement.

In fact, the whole thing is simple and understated instead of big and flashy, which definitely feels like the right move.
