NEW DELHI: The BSE Smallcap index was underperforming benchmark Sensex in Tuesday's trade.

At 10:50 hours, the BSE Smallcap index was 0.15 per cent up at 17,883, while the BSE Sensex was 0.24 per cent up at 33,857. The NSE Nifty50 was 0.23 per cent up at 10,402.

Shares of Aptech (up 7.47 per cent), Electrosteel Steels (up 4.98 per cent), Rollatainers (up 4.93 per cent), Castex Technologies (up 4.74 per cent), Diamond Power Infrastructure (up 4.58 per cent), Sri Adhikari Brothers Television Network (up 4.53 per cent), Vardhman Special Steels (up 4.24 per cent), Dredging Corporation Of India (up 3.72 per cent), Pioneer Distilleries (up 3.66 per cent), Fineotex Chemical (up 3.51 per cent), MBL Infrastructures (up 3.43 per cent) and JMT Auto (up 3.41 per cent) were among the top gainers in the smallcap index.

On the other hand, Gitanjali Gems (down 9.91 per cent), Future Enterprises (down 6.74 per cent), Gujarat NRE Coke (down 6.73 per cent), Ricoh India (down 4.99 per cent), Sathavahana Ispat (down 4.98 per cent), Alankit (down 4.98 per cent), Agarwal Industrial Corporation (down 4.79 per cent), Fortis Healthcare (down 4.27 per cent), Bhushan Steel (down 4.18 per cent), Gujarat NRE Coke (down 4.12 per cent) and Graphite India (down 4.02 per cent) were among the top losers in the smallcap index.

Equity markets were up on buying by investors in metal, capital goods, teck and IT stocks amid a mixed trend at other Asian Markets.

Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, Bharti Airtel, IndusInd Bank and Hero MotoCorp were among the top gainers in the Sensex index.

Sun Pharma, Reliance Industries, Maruti Suzuki and Mahindra & Mahindra were among the top losers in the Sensex kitty of stocks.
