PANAJI: St Andre MLA Francis Silveira assured residents of Azossim-Mandur that government officials would throw more light on the proposed inclusion of the twin villages in the Kadamba planning area.

A gram sabha of the panchayat has been planned on February 25, and among other issues, it will discuss the proposed inclusion of the panchayat areas in the Greater Panaji Planning and Development Authority (GPPDA).

Silveira said that he is not aware of the details of the inclusion nor of his appointment as a member of the authority, as he had not received any official communication.

During a meeting with the MLA at Agasaim on Sunday, locals had asked him about his stand on the issue and whether he would quit the committee, but he did not commit himself to it.

St Cruz MLA Tony Fernandes announced that he would quit the GPPDA as member, as he was endorsing the people’s demand that the village should be excluded from the planning area.
