Nine arrested for stone throwing

Police have arrested nine persons in connection with pelting stones on a place of worship in Kamalapur town on while taking out a procession as part of celebrating Shivaji Hasbro on Monday.

Nine more have been taken into custody for questioning, according to R. Chetan, Superintendent of Police.

A case has been registered under various sections of Indian Penal Code.

It may be mentioned here that tension had gripped Kamalapur town following stone pelting on a place of worship. A large number of people from rival communities gathered, followed by verbal clash. Swift action by police prevented the events from going out of control.
