Whirlpool of India, subsidiary of Whirlpool Corporation USA, largest manufacturer of consumer appliances globally, today announced the expansion of their
Pune manufacturing plant with an investment of INR 357 Cr in phases.
The announcement made in Mumbai, during the Magnetic Maharashtra Convergence 2018, highlights Whirlpool’s commitment of ‘Make in India’ and ’Make in Maharashtra.’
A Memorandum of Understanding to this effect was signed between Whirlpool India and Govt. of Maharashtra ahead of Magnetic Maharashtra Convergence 2018, a Whirlpool India spokesperson here said.
Whirlpool India setup state of art manufacturing facility to manufacture refrigerators at MIDC Ranjangaon, Pune in 1998. Whirlpool is contemplating to expand its refrigeration manufacturing capacity at Ranjangaon facility in two phases over next 5 years. This will involve setting up new refrigeration line in new building & creating innovative new products for Indian Consumers.
Managing Director of Whirlpool of India Sunil D’Souza added, “We are delighted once again to partner with the Maharashtra Government. With this investment we will be increasing our refrigeration manufacturing capacity and delivering best in class products with leading global technologies to our consumers. We aim to deliver our promise of Make in India and contribute to significant employment generation and developing supply base around Pune.”
