Nearly 100 Killed in Bombardment of Hard-Hit Suburb of Syrian Capital

BEIRUT—Syrian regime forces backed by Russian warplanes intensified attacks on a suburb of the capital, killing nearly 100 people including women and children on Monday, according to several activist and medical groups, amid a campaign to retake remaining rebel-held areas.

The airstrikes hit five hospitals, putting them out of service and further incapacitating local doctors trying to treat the scores of wounded, said the Union of Medical Care and Relief Organizations, a France-based charity that supports local medical care.
