The Local Administration Department has decided to regularise unauthorised buildings constructed between 2013 and 2017 after levying a fine. Department sources told The Hindu here that the structures constructed in violation of the Kerala Municipal and Panchayat Building Rules would be regularised only after levying a fine after assessing the gravity of the violation. Commercial buildings would have to pay more than residential structures. A decision has been made for enhancing the fees for issuing licences to shops and commercial establishments from ₹100 to ₹500.
